Daniel Hughes (Danny)

Born – Durham

Favourite Team – (NHL team) Boston Bruins

Hockey Background – I began playing when I was about 7 years old in goal, I played under 10s for Billingham then moved to play for Whitley Bay until I was 15. I then returned to Billingham and that’s where I stayed till I was about 21 with the Bombers. I played under 16s, 18s and then moved on to playing for the seniors team. I took a long break from hockey for about 7 years or so that’s when I started playing for Cleveland Comets. I played a couple of games in goal for them then made the move to the blue line as a defender and I never looked back. After a couple of years playing for the Comets on and off I made the decision to try out for the Buccaneers and to my surprise as only being a defender for a few years I was picked to join the team and what a team it is. I hope to have many years with them and to continue to develop my defending skills.

Message for our younger stars- Being picked for games is great, winning them is even better but loving the sport you play is what matters. Make friends with your team, respect your coaches but most importantly enjoy every minute because if you love what you do you’ll go far.
